[3/8] The decision must be unequivocally wrong, not just arguably incorrect and not for close or minor interpretation differences.
This is important. It means that a referee’s call stands regardless of whether VAR officials would personally rule differently (thus re-refereeing the game)

There is not a single match this weekend that doesn't have officials on double/triple/quadruple shift.
Two matches, #ARSWHU and #NEWNFO, will have all three officials (ref, 4th and VAR) overworked.
In the case of ARSWHU, John Brooks will have had only 16 hours of recovery since his previous match.

Law 12 does not state that touching the ball first nullifies a foul if the subsequent contact with the player is careless, so the active attempt to play the ball was the only reason the VAR could give to overturn the on-field decision.
But the GK did not actively play the ball.

Gillett at the VAR monitor spent a minute listening to England explaining what he saw. That is VAR overreach that should never happen: if the error is 'clear and obvious', the ref will be able to see it for himself on the screen. The way it is, refs are almost forced to overturn their decision
