Yes but I don’t think anyone can replace a mob boss who everyone is afraid of. The whole R admin/Congress are scared shit of him, that they/their family will be physically harmed. No sociopathic successor can instill that kind of fear. Certainly not Vance. Maybe then the Rs will find their spines.

Because he knows he’s become untouchable. No more “adults” in the room to stop him. His whole administration bows down and lets him just let loose so he has nothing to lose. He’s not running again so he doesn’t give a shit. Plus he’s losing his mind so there’s that too.

Every reporter in a press gaggle should stand up for the reporter he calls, say, “piggy.” And turn around and walk out. Yes, they’d probably be fired but they’d be heroes and no doubt be offered jobs at outlets that support their bravery. It’ll never happen because these reporters are all cowards.

We don’t need to parse his words; we just need to name it: he’s severely mentally ill. And he’s abusing us every day. Nothing surprises me anymore, not even the spineless Rs who stand by him. It’s heartbreaking and frightening that it seems like we can’t do anything to stop the insanity.

I’m from the US, living in Argentina for 14 years. I regularly keep up on US news but, because my Spanish still sucks, it’s hard to understand the TV broadcast news and SM here. My Argentine husband often tells me things being reported about the States that I hadn’t heard from US media.
