The chart, which is no longer visible to me, showed downturns in 50% of the instances. I expect a downturn, but my point was that the chart didn't provide evidence of its likelihood.

Or not. A recession seems likely, given everything DJT is doing, but, if the data in this chart is taken to be predictive, continued growth is equally likely.

Under what statute should "Obama" (his DOJ?) have prosecuted Bush and Cheney? Or are you just suggesting he should have sent CIA assassins after them?

I may be "getting played," but I still like to see the evidence.

That doesn't seem particularly relevant to the Kent story, and it doesn't sound like "planning to surrender" either.
July 31, 2025 at 12:04 PM
Nothing in the linked article supports your claim that "Senate Democrats are planning to surrender to the right."

Thanks.

"Democratic leadership keeps refusing to pick, which means we default to 1️⃣"
July 15, 2025 at 11:13 AM
Suggesting that the Democratic leadership has the power to remove Trump from office is Seth-Abramson-electoral-math-level magical thinking. This is a deeply unserious post.

"No pushback"? Two impeachments?

Hadn't US intelligence already concluded that Iran was not working toward producing a nuclear weapon?

That's a nice experience. Was the band his choice or yours?

I appreciate the depth of your commitment to downplaying Mamdani's popularity but, again, he's far from the only choice for the "anyone but Cuomo" voters. OTOH, anyone who votes makes a "less than perfect" choice.

Here is a range of polls, all of which show Cuomo leading.

I wouldn't know how one would even begin to quantify the effects of "negative partisanship" in a race like this one. There are plenty of reasons to like Mamdani in his own right.

Cribbed from Horace, no?
June 12, 2025 at 1:40 AM
I believe that poll is an outlier. Most others show Cuomo ahead.
June 12, 2025 at 1:37 AM
It's complicated, yes, but there are about a dozen Other Guys running for the Dem nomination. Mamdani is the only one giving Cuomo a run for his money.

Not liking (some) people or things they do is human.

I suppose loathing for the people who force those games on workers could be the basis for a sort of camaraderie.
