In my trauma recovery, I yearned for a masculine presence that was safe, nurturing, and supportive. Learning this book existed was the answer to hundreds of desperate prayers.

This month's read is Matthew Fox's The Hidden Spirituality of Men.

The plan: Read one book each month

This month: A Victorian Flower Dictionary by Mandy Kirkby

"While traditions and significance of flowers vary from region to region, always there are flowers, and always there is the desire to communicate"

instead of bleak ignorance, I now treat her with slightly annoyed, exasperated yet mildly entertained awareness

"hello suitcase of tragedies, guilts, fears & peculiarities. I see you have a new patch, how darling."

you see, she needs to be acknowledged or she makes quite a fuss vying for attention

The plan: Read one book each month, a selection that cultivates recovery, whether that be through momentary reprieve, awakened imagination, or expanded awareness.

When April is over, Master Poet, allow our embers of poetic creation to blaze continuous.

May we live the rest of our lives as an authentic, lovedrenched, furious, miraculous, heart centered poem.

Amen.

Divine Beloved,
Bless all the poets.

Awaken our emotions and senses.
Align our writing hands with our hearts and minds - our holy trinity - so we may pour poetry onto the page.
Infuse our work with healing, for us and our beloved readers.
