No, he'd seen the GP and got a prescription for sleeping tablets - walked out - and dropped dead next to his Morris Minor. He was 83 and the GP said, ' He seemed fine to me - so I can't issue a death certificate!' We put him on the bed in the Nurses' room!

I did that one Saturday morning- after a pause in patients going in and out - the lone GP called me in ahead of my turn and asked me to help carry in the dead body of an elderly man who’d died in the car park - he knew I was a police officer and wouldn’t be phased! I still waited my turn afterwards!
