What can I say about Edgar Burroughs? His prose is the most bewitching yet that I’ve had the pleasure to read. The Barsoom series is going to have a place in my heart for a long time, and I’m elated that I have more reading ahead of me than behind.

I’ve been working on this one for awhile. Easily my favorite book so far, but I haven’t been able to finish it yet. Making some more progress tonight, and the plot just thickened! Can’t wait to get deeper into the Barsoom series

“What did it matter where you lay once you were dead? In a dirty sump or in a marble tower on top of a high hill? You were dead, you were sleeping the big sleep, you were not bothered by things like that. Oil and water were the same as wind and air to you. You just slept the big sleep.”

About halfway through my next book of the week. Quite the departure from the past couple I’ve read. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good detective story.

Just finished another one- another PKD novel. I enjoyed this one even more than the last; I could hardly put it down once I picked it up. It’s been a long time, too, since I’d finished a book within 24 hours. Had me raising my eyebrow a few times, but an enjoyable read!

It took me awhile to get through it, but I crossed the finish line tonight and finally finished The Man In The High Castle. A very thought-provoking read, especially in these times. It gets my approval!

Shortly before I was made “redundant”, I was working on lead surveys to determine whose pipes needed to be replaced ASAP.

I’m sure everyone with lead pipes is gonna be fine tho

Last night’s reading. Not terrible- I know what I need to do, and it’s all up to me. #tarot

Since Amazon decided to donate a stack to Trump, I decided to look for alternate book suppliers. This is my first shipment from Better World Books.

I’m particularly interested in the William Allen White title 😊 I’m eager to read him firsthand

Nearly done with this one. Not the PKD book I was looking for when I picked it up, but I’m a sucker for alternate histories.

Thinking on the next four years, I can only pray we don’t need our own version of “The Grasshopper Lies Heavy”. 8/10 from me.

My New Year’s resolution was to commit to reading a book a week through the year. I just finished my first, so I’m gonna have to +1 this week.

This was a good intro to Hemingway for me. Equal parts captivating and devastating, with a hint of redemption at the end. No complaints from me.

You can put lipstick on a pig, and you can polish a turd, but a pig is still a pig, a turd is still a turd, and garbage is still garbage.

Caricature-esque. I think I need to have an equally detailed subject and environment in the future- I was trying to go for one of those high-fidelity, nasty close-ups from Misadventures of Flapjack, while retaining the simply body/background. Lesson learned for next week!
