Been about 9 months since I stopped lurking and actually started sharing what I'm working on.
Just the act of putting things out there, whether or not they are widely received, has been enormously helpful in focusing my creative energy.

A lot of experienced artists post timelapses or process exhibitions and I'm amazed at how their stuff "locks in" early.
It takes many tries for me figure out why my initial sketch isn't working. I think the difference here is the ability identify landmarks, which is really about well... experience.

I've known that social media is inherently kinda toxic by reducing content to "number of times someone pushed button"
Will it still be cool to get 1k+ on something years down the line? Sure. But just knowing there is a possibility that someone could see my work is enough to keep me motivated.

to me, “you should create for yourself” and “you deserve to be acknowledged for what you make” are two statements that should coexist. chasing engagement will rot your soul, while being neglected will see your passion wither. loving what you make is a failsafe for when the engagement never comes.
