When younger generations started to push for change, many fought back, clinging to a world that looked like their youth. They elected an authoritarian who promised to “make America great again,” just so they could, on their deathbeds, feel like they had it all one last time.

But when it was their turn to lead, they chose to protect their own power and wealth instead.
