It’s relevant only if Steve steps in and does it- like he did with Soto. If he leaves it up to Stearns the point is moot. And that also makes the other point if clearing a space for him irrelevant as well if that’s the logic.

Someone posted that this trade is done because the Mets are clearing the space bc they are going to sign Tucker & trade for Skubal. I don’t see it.
