Whenever I hear folks tell me how hard they work (and that's why they're so wealthy) I think about all those other people who also work really hard but didn't end up with views of Sydney Harbour.

I struggle to reconcile my good fortune in life.

Harvest. It amazes me just how much rice is grown in Nepal, and that most of it is planted and harvested by hand. Immense labor goes into these grains. I hate to waste rice at dinner, having seen how hard families work to grow it.

Composition is often tackled by jamming in as much as you can. Trying to do everything in a single frame. I prefer to step back from that, and allow for the quiet moments to take over my creative focus. One frame at a time.

When you see an account that "celebrates" the planet or nature or whatever, but doesn't credit the photographer let alone gain permission to use the image... That's a parasite.

I don't like it when someone steals my work. A lot of folks on BlueSky do seem to like it though.
One of dozens of accounts I've blocked in the space of a few days. BlueSky is choc full of these accounts that steal content from others in order to build a fast audience.

Last time I travelled through Nepal my widest lens was only 24mm. I didn't allow that mistake to happen twice!

I have three lenses on me at all times this month, the 18mm F1.8, 35mm F1.8 and a 100mm macro. 18mm is me fave :)

Most artists in this world don't actually want to make money. They have to earn something to survive, but they don't really want to. What they want is to make beautiful things. They want to make a difference to this world. They want to share a connection with other humans. They want to express their lived experiences. That's what draws us to art, not money or fame. Making money at all is a distraction to the creative process. Artists mostly want to make the world a better place.
