I was told my first attempt at a logo 20 years ago was too busy to be useful. Maybe they had a point.

Large patches of natural vegetation are structures in a landscape that protect aquifers and interconnected stream networks, sustain viable populations of most interior species, provide core habitat and escape cover for most large-home-range vertebrates, and permit near natural disturbance regimes.

If we adapted these little fire trucks widely in the U.S., how much could their smaller size and thus increased accessibility allow for changes in our cities’ building codes?
I would imagine they would be allow narrower streets with tighter, and thus safer for pedestrians, curb radii.

Let me introduce you to the blind cave-fish Ateoblepus phoeleter. These guys have evolved specialized skin-teeth called “skin denticles” that are stiff mechanoreceptors that allow it to sense it surrounding despite living in waters with high flow rates.

A creature’s UMWELT is the sensory bubble it lives in, its perceptual world. This varies greatly between species and between individuals in a species.
Bats and dolphins have sonar, elephants and dogs are immersed in smells we don’t perceive.
Color blindness in humans reveals how umwelts vary.

It was fun getting to read both a sci-fi novel and a non-fiction history text by the same author, Annalee Newitz. Terraformers take to a distant planet in the far future being terraformed and Four Lost Cities take us back in time to 4 real cities that were “lost” to the modern world.
