Six years ago I was a a full time advocate for my mother. She was in a rehab facility, and I moved to a nearby hotel for 6 weeks. I came in the middle of the night when she was afraid, and it anchored her to reality. She loved these flowers, and wanted a photo of them. 💜

Off topic of our political nightmare, the earth is still turning and revolving. Today is winter solstice, and I’m grateful for the beauty of Christmas lights, twinkling trees, and candles in windows, all bringing light to the darkest time of the year.

I’m being observational to calm my dread and steady myself for the continuous onslaught of filth and vile people taking over our country. So, last night I observed this. Romeo is chill, and Freckles has intense alertness. They are the embodiment of my own yin and yang.

Sweet Romeo is healing from a cat fight he started -and lost. He is embarrassed. But the vet bill was nearly 2k so I informed him he also needs to feel ashamed enough to leave stray cats alone. Forever.

I think this is outrageous. Every senator and house member votes. In that respect, they represent ALL of us, and are making decisions for ALL of us. But you can't write, for example to @corybooker.com if you're from California to ask him to NOT normalize RFK as a person in charge of health.

I teach English as a second language to 20 adults whose first language is Spanish. Those who've been with me for three years asked me today: What will happen to me now? *gulp* But we're in California, so I told them they are safer here, in this state, than in most others. I hope I'm right.

As a distraction, we spent the day at Mare Island a while back. Lots of things to see, so I’ll need to go back with a proper camera. We ended the day at the distillery for a meal and spirits. It was wonderful.
