Congratulations to Ada Clarke who had an excellent master’s defence today. She was an absolute pleasure to work with! Forgot pictures but found this lovely bag in Sweden as a gift.

Just like that my sabbatical in Sweden is done! Sad to be leaving but looking forward to adventures ahead!

A major sabbatical accomplishment: learning to do stranded knitting (two colours)! Still need to block but it is done!

I will not buy any more ceramic in Sweden. I will not buy any more ceramic in Sweden before ending my sabbatical. I will not buy… why always so temping?!

Antique shopping today and found this amazing vernal wall tile with my study species, fireweed. I’m already regretting leaving it although it is heavy and a bit hard to bring with everything else…

Was I super excited to find a fireweed themed dishcloth? Yes! Did I show incredible restraint by leaving the notebook? Surprisingly also yes. Will I ever use the cloth for dishes? Likely no.

So very grateful for the warm spring morning, this view for my tea, and the relief that my lab can keep doing science #NSERC. The world is showing us the future isn’t always certain so I feel very privileged in this moment.

I’m so grateful to be living in the most beautiful place I ever have right in this moment, although it also feels weird and somehow disloyal to be away from Canada. But these views are healing:

I think I just have to overcome the paralysis that just all of this is causing in me right now. It all feels so heavy but at least spring is springing were I’m living for sabbatical!

I found my study species second hand shopping today. So delighted!

It feels like a really weird year to be away from Canada on sabbatical. Difficult to know what the changes will feel like when we go back in summer.

Blekinge, the county in Sweden where we’re living, has a traditional form of embroidery that reminds me of the trans flag colours. Older than than flag, but who knows crafts can be subversive as F 😉

It really is just these two rocks next to some houses and a small soccer net, you can trip over history in Sweden

I really think cats should not roam free but I have some guilty pleasure when the neighbour’s decides to visit!

The views and light from our sabbatical house make me want to take up watercolour painting

I ripped out the bottom of this sweater because it didn’t fit right-3rd attempt to make a sweater with this wool

Husband invented a new word today when I said it was so scenic here it is almost obscene. Obscenic: ridiculously beautiful scenery bordering on obscene. Case and point, today’s Christmas Eve walk
