While compelled segregation is generally impermissible, failing to maintain sex-separated athletic competitions and intimate spaces can also violate federal law. Federally funded institutions that allow males, including those self-identifying as "women," to access single-sex spaces designed for females-such as bathrooms, showers, locker rooms, or dormitories-undermine the privacy, safety, and equal opportunity of women and girls. Likewise, permitting males to compete in women's athletic events almost invariably denies women equal opportunity by eroding competitive fairness. These policies risk creating a hostile environment under Title VII, particularly where they compromise women's privacy safety, or professional standing, and can violate Title IX by denying women access to the full scope of sex-based protections in education. To ensure compliance with federal law and to safeguard the rights of women and girls, organizations should affirm sex-based boundaries rooted in biological differences.

Researchers whose findings have cast doubt on a competitive advantage for transgender women athletes appear to have been excluded from an International Olympic Committee working group tasked with creating a new policy on female participation. That includes the authors of a 2024 study funded by the IOC that found transgender athletes might actually be at a competitive disadvantage, and urged caution in imposing participation bans. “I was not included. I’ll let you extrapolate as to why,” one of the researchers told USA TODAY Sports in an email confirming they were not part of the IOC’s Protection of the Female Category Working Group and had not been asked to participate.

as part of a proposed settlement to restore ucla's federal grants, the feds want the university to declare that trans people don't exist and to stop providing health care to trans adolescents...
The more than 7,300-word proposal outlines a three-year agreement that calls on UCLA to: Make five years of payments — $200,000 annually — and set up a $172,000 fund for people with claims of civil rights violations. Ensure foreign students who are “anti-Western” will not be admitted. Pay for all costs of the settlement, including the fee for an outside monitor. Annually release demographic data for hires as well as students who have applied or have been admitted, broken down by “race, color, grade point average, and performance on standardized tests.” Make a public statement declaring that transgender people’s identities are no longer recognized. End gender-affirming care for minors at medical facilities. Give the government access to “all UCLA staff, employees, facilities, documents, and data related to the agreement” not protected by attorney-client privilege. The document shows signs of being hastily put together. Nouns and verbs occasionally do not match in tense. There are references to the “president” of UCLA, but the top campus administrator, Julio Frenk, is a “chancellor.” A sentence about medical facilities references the “Feinberg School of Medicine,” which is at Northwestern University.

“What I will say is President Trump has very ambitious hopes for the CDC right now,” Kennedy said on the Fox News show “Fox & Friends.” “CDC has problems. We saw the misinformation coming out of Covid, they got the testing wrong, they got the social distancing, the masks, the school closures that have done so much harm to the American people. “Today, on the CDC’s website right now, they list the 10 top advances, the 10 greatest advances in medical science and one of them is abortion, another is fluoridation, and another is vaccines. So we need to look at the priorities of the agency.

Researchers inside and outside the agency “shall not use NIH funds to request, collect, or disseminate information related to gender,” states the version of the policy seen by The Chronicle, which could change. However, data on sex can be gathered — provided that the used definitions of sex reflect the Trump administration’s view that there are only two sexes, female and male, and they are determined at birth and unchangeable.

setting aside that this is a poorly written executive order, it sure sounds like trans people are no longer eligible for federal grants
(i) Discretionary awards must, where applicable, demonstrably advance the President’s policy priorities. (ii) Discretionary awards shall not be used to fund, promote, encourage, subsidize, or facilitate: (A) racial preferences or other forms of racial discrimination by the grant recipient, including activities where race or intentional proxies for race will be used as a selection criterion for employment or program participation; (B) denial by the grant recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic; (C) illegal immigration; or (D) any other initiatives that compromise public safety or promote anti-American values.

us v skrmetti: scotus relies on some twisted logic to take health care from trans adolescents. conveniently ignores that a "qualifying diagnosis" is not the issue at hand. sb1 does not prevent a diagnosis, it prevents a treatment on the basis of one's sex assigned at birth

If a transgender boy seeks testosterone to treat gender dysphoria, SB1 prevents a healthcare provider from administering it to him. If his biological sex were changed from female to male, SB1 would still not permit him the hormones he seeks because he would lack a qualifying diagnosis."

Advocates say giving ICE’s Enforcement and Removals office, which oversees deportations, the ability to DNA-test families would pave the way for the administration to separate children from the adults who care for them.
