Turns out you CAN show off different Pokeballs in photo mode, it's just not your Mon's actual ball but the one you've selected to throw at wild Mons next. Better than nothing, tho if I run out of a ball no more photos with it. SV camera showed off the balls better too.

Tbh I'd prefer Heavy Ball here but assuming it works like before Beldum is actually too light and makes it weaker than a regular Pokeball, with it's already low catch rate it's basically impossible.
Caught a shiny Metang with one in Scarlet tho. Luxury still fits, +Hoenn origins.
