I'll stop here since I'm getting off-topic and rambley, didn't really think out what I wanted to say in advance.

I'll probably post an update next Monday when I find out the exact details of what's going on but until then I will just be moderately annoyed and very sleepy

The where question is also kinda weighing on me. My current location is nice and familiar, relatively cheap, and close to family, but part of me thinks if I keep staying in this area too long, I'll just end up living here permanently and I don't know if I want that.

-- mostly as an opportunity to keep improving my Japanese, although it'd probably be hard to know exactly how much I'd be able to do without actually working there.

My main considerations at this point are what I actually want to do, and where I want to do it.

I'm not particularly attached to the electric industry, although it'd probably be easier to land something with the experience I have. Also been considering trying to work for a Japanese company

There are some positives here, I've been at this job around 3.5 years which is a decent time to start looking at other companies, I *should* have pretty good odds at making a decent bit more money wherever I end up next.

I'll get a better picture next Monday, as far as knowing if the retention period is the 3 months I was originally told a couple months ago, or if they've changed their mind. Apparently that has happened to some people, but honestly I'd prefer to keep it short.

I'd like to jump right in and find something but I can't imagine asking to start in June is the best interview strategy.

To be clear, I'm not in any financial danger from all of this, I just really dislike this period of waiting and uncertainty.

The other annoying part is that while I know my job is going to most likely be gone in 3 months, searching for a job too soon is fairly unproductive, since there's a pretty big retention payout at the end of that period.

I think the skillcap with index is definitely higher than thumbs too, I know it's physically possible but I don't see myself getting a 29 FC with thumbs any time soon whereas with index I feel like I've barely even started.

Being able to pick up where you left off previously would be huge. Not a fan of trying to scroll down and remember where I had been.

Posting videos isn't huge for me, but I think it's a mark against the platform that's keeping people I'd want to follow away, so I guess indirectly that'd be big

Really I think this has just let me know that I need to be adding a listening section to my daily routine, and that the Genki Listening Questions and like an hour and a half of class per week aren't enough.

Not sure how I want to do that yet, gonna have to see what people recommend

I was honestly feeling kinda disappointed that my comprehension was this bad but now that I've thought about it a bit it really shouldn't be surprising. I only started learning less than 2 years ago and like 80%+ has been guided self-study with textbooks.
