Hearing the same sort of thing years later coming from someone I want to be close with really bummed me out

I seriously don’t understand hating on something as low stakes as k-pop music or anything similar…

I know this type of person exists but this isn’t high school why are you unapologetically hating on music just because it’s in a different language?

I know I have a chip on my shoulder because I was bullied relentlessly for liking k-pop during high school a few years ago but we’re adults now???

I said “oh why is that an insult?” And she like raised her voice and exclaimed “I hate k-pop so much” and it made me so sad because yk k-pop is kind of my whole special interest.

Her reasoning? She’s as “country as it gets”. It really bummed me out I thought she was cooler than that.

looking back made me realize I didn’t actually get that many good videos but yk
