Daiane is on loan so she currently not using an international slot. I am guessing Deyna, Alidou, maybe Dufour when she is back are not staying the whole season soley due to playing time. So hopefully that will free up some spots.

We are most likely going to be loosing or trading a few forwards cause there is no reason we need 10 or 11 forwards. I think this year there is a lot more big names out of contract and maybe a better chance of it happening.

There are a ton of players in Europe whose contracts are up at the end of their season so I am wondering if the Thorns are waiting until the summer break to sign a big name (especially with Coffey leaving so late)

They don’t like how she sued the league but if she didn’t do that then Hutton, the Thompson sisters, etc. couldn’t have joined the league when they did. And everyone loves them. She is just unnecessarily hated and I love how she is proving them wrong with her skill and play

Yes and Phuoc pulled some quotes from the video on their own post as well.

They posted a video and Sam said that ever since she learned how to kick a ball she has wanted to play in Europe. She also has previously expressed wanting to play in Europe. This is not a surprising move from her and I honestly expected it.

I don’t think this is on the owners. Sam has always expressed wanting to play in Europe and it is only right that the club respects her wishes. It will hurt a lot loosing her but if this is what she wants then she should go for it.

Sam has expressed before wanting to play in Europe and I think an opportunity that interested her came up and the club wants to do right by Coffey

They got rid of it with the new cba. Last year was the first year without the draft. Teams are able to go talk to whatever college players they want and players are able to choose what team to play on.

Yeah…. That is a stupid requirement especially when most of the US/NWSL players on that list aren’t even in the top 50. I don’t know why the requirements are off of European based list with reporters who pay little attention to the NWSL.

This!! In the end, it is the clubs owners who will pay the million so why can’t they decide who gets to be the HIP for their team or better yet just raise the salary cap by a million so teams can decide how to divide the money best for their team.
December 23, 2025 at 5:48 PM
Is she in the top 40 though? Cause she would need to be in the Top 40 to qualify not the top 100.

Also from the articles, it seems like she really enjoys Portland and likes playing there. She talked about how she doesn’t feel the need to be in an uncomfortable position. After reading the article, I feel like there is a higher chance she stays with Portland and becomes a high impact player

I think with Reyes, Muller, and Vignola, Payne would not get a ton of minutes and she is good enough that she could go somewhere else to get more playing time.

I am very critical of this team and the roster because of the high standard the club has had previously. I think the centerback position needs a major upgrade. I also think that the talent on this roster is the reason the thorns got so far not the coaching. The players outplayed the coaching.
November 26, 2025 at 10:02 PM
He had a better roster last year and did not take it far. I honestly think the team outperformed outside expectation but as a fan watching this season, it was just so inconsistent. This team could have played better and should have beat teams like Utah. Gale is a nice guy but not a great coach
November 26, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Deyna played better her last 3 games but for most of the season, she hardly contributed when she was on the field. She lost the ball a lot, gave up on plays, and did not have the speed to support the other forwards on fast breaks.
November 26, 2025 at 9:52 PM
Hiatt was a reason why a lot of goals were scored from poor positioning, to not being fast, bad passes, poor defending, etc. Perry wasn’t even getting the chance to play and develop as a rookie even after starting at the beginning of the season. She needs minutes to improve and was not given those
November 26, 2025 at 9:50 PM
Hina is a better player than Fleming and deserved to be starting over her. Hina is great defensively & has insane ball skills. Arnold played well the last couple of games but after the break there was clear goalkeeping mistakes that lead to goals.
November 26, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Linnehan was stronger than Deyna and clearly towards the end of the season it was evident we were missing speed up top with Turner. Tordin did way more defensive work than Deyna ever did. It was a poor move to bench Tordin and the attack suffered when Tordin was not on the field.
November 26, 2025 at 9:46 PM
To add on, Linnehan should have received a lot more playing time. She was more impactful than Deyna. Arnold over Bixby was a choice after Bixby was playing so well before the break. Not starting hina when she was with the team. Last year starting Sinclair and Izzy over better forwards.
November 26, 2025 at 7:43 PM
End of season lineups is not what I think they are referring to but I would have started Perry over Hiatt. Hiatt made a lot of poor passes and was slow. Rob chose to bench Tordin for Deyna in the middle of the season due to Tordin needing to improve defensively which Deyna does not do well at all.
November 26, 2025 at 7:41 PM
I hope she gets to stay a little longer. I think she has a better chance of getting playing time with the Thorns than breaking into Arsenal’s line up.
November 26, 2025 at 2:02 AM
Agree!! This team has too much talent to not have an identity. This is a good sign from the FO that they want this club to be the best and will part ways with a coach who did well with all the injuries to go for a top level coach.
