"Bulrushes" had a similar effect on our son at the same age. Baffling special moments!

My mum made us one in the early 70s using the same towelling as our bathroom curtains. In fact it may have been the curtains repurposed. Appropriately it had a fish print, in shades of orange. Being a shy child I found it essential!

I write one weekly to pay for choir rehearsals. If my dad sends money in a birthday card to a family member it comes by cheque. There's only one bank left in our town, but we can easily pay cheques into any bank at our post office. I truly didn't realise cheques were so rare!
