Related (but not quite the same), I recall taking off from Detroit around sunset once, and seeing in quick succession still sunlit lake Huron to the west, twilit Erie underneath, and darkness-shrouded Ontario framed by the lights of the Golden Horseshoe in the distance. Pretty impressive!
