a frying pan with the bottom lined with caramelized onions the same pan, with thin sliced potatoes layered on top of the onions, clarified butter and stock brushed onto each layer, and a parchment cartouche on top the finished dish after baking, with the addition of thyme leaves and black pepper some of the finished dish on a plate lit by my kitchen window

as a bonus here's Extra Crispy, which is for escort and defense missions. loadout is pretty variable here- commonly I'll use a plasma rifle and multilock missiles, but here i have the flamethrower, plasma thrower, and two of Carla's soup missile racks

and then there's Grudge, my melee boss killer. gets in on you with the laser lance and releases a charged laser shotgun as soon as it's on top of you, then punishes with pile bunker and stun needle. it wants one thing, which is to stay on top of you and rip you in half

seeing people post ACs so here's my main: The Gnashing of Teeth, a zippy little rushdown mech with shotguns, pile bunker, and the little starter missile pack that makes people dodge into shotgun blasts. a white/light brown/black/red color scheme meant to look unsettlingly organic and skeletal

didn't post this little lyric game here before when i wrote it back in february, but i will now since someone has actually played it

transformation sequence: a game for one player, and then another
1. leave home at an unusual hour. bring with you four small objects you're willing to lose. these are your bindings 2. travelling by whatever means you normally use to get around (on foot, on public transportation, in a car, etc), go in a direction you don't often travel in 3. when you get about as far from your home as you tend to go on a typical day, stop and select one of your bindings. give this binding a piece of yourself. name it, thank it, and bid it farewell. find a place nearby to bury or otherwise dispose of your first binding 4. keep travelling until you've covered about the same distance again. select your second binding. give it a piece of yourself. name it, thank it, and bid it farewell. then part with it like you did the first one 5. continue traveling about that same distance again. select your third binding. give this one another piece of yourself. name it, thank it, bid it farewell. dispose of it and keep moving 6. once you have traveled that same distance again, give one last piece of yourself to your final binding. name it, thank it, bid it farewell. once you've disposed of your final binding, examine your surroundings with new eyes 7. sit here for a while. be new 8. when you're ready, search the area for another small object to be the first of your new bindings. find one that reminds you of something you'd like to make a part of your new self, and take it with you. allow its qualities to become part of you 9. begin heading home. when you're about a quarter of the way there, select the second of your new bindings. take it with you, and study its qualities intently 10. when you're about halfway home, select the third of your new bindings. take it with you, and allow its qualities to grow within you 11. when you're three quarters of the way home, select your final binding. take it with you and let it name you 12. welcome back

what's your favorite snake coloration pattern and why is it the argentine boa
an argentine boa constrictor, with black keeled scales with a pattern of white ovals reminiscent of inkblots, coiled up with head raised and mouth open another argentine boa, with a bit more red- brown in its dorsal coloration in again to black and white. it's climbing a tree branch and its ventral scales are exposed, which are white with randomly distributed black dots that kind of look like a multiple choice test sheet

if you've ever really wanted to see a wide fucking snake, google eryx conicus, which is one of the rare boas to have a midsection significantly wider than its head. and yes they are constrictors!

two half gallon freezer bags full of homemade pork wontons reduced homemade stock in ice cube bags ready to go in the freezer. you can just trim off individual cubes as you need them, 8 cubes and an equal weight of hot water makes a bowl of soup bowl of soup with wontons, seaweed, cilantro, green onion

making my annual honey cake once again (fourth picture is from last year's cake, as this year's cake has to rest until tomorrow afternoon)
the cake layers, which are kind of like a slightly tender gingerbread cookie, after baking blurry picture of the cake while i was assembling it, with alternating layers of frosting and cherry preserves the cake after being assembled, with crumbs from the dough scraps pressed into the outside. now it has to sit for 24 hours so the layers can soak up some frosting and soften into an actual cake texture a slice of cake from last year, with a cross section of the alternating layers of cake, frosting, and cherry preserves

another baseball game yesterday (schuylkill river squeeze vs wissahickon sluggers, 14-14 tie). really fun game. mostly catching this time, and I've got plenty of bruises on my thighs and left hand to show for it. also, an actual uniform!
me before the game, at home in an open red button down over a white tank top with baseball pants and a Phillies hat selfie at the game, same outfit as in the first picture but without the hat and with the button down switched out for the jersey (light blue and yellow, also a short sleeve button down) me in catcher's gear, leaning back against a light pole on the sidelines. dirt all over my leg guards, hat backwards to accommodate the helmet, and the helmet in one hand and my glove in another the back of my jersey, which says "RHIANNON" above the number 13

finally: takoyaki, sicilian pizza, kaniyaki. we were planning to try and fit chicken paprikash in there as our last one, but we were both too tired
container full of takoyaki, topped with takoyaki sauce, kewpie mayo, katsuobushi, and nori a cross section view of a thick slice of Sicilian pizza, with the cheese underneath the sauce and then some vegetables and parmesan on top of the sauce a plate of kaniyaki. the only difference from the takoyaki is having imitation crab instead of octopus, and a pile of pickled ginger off to the side

next: stock, wonton soup & plain congee that i made her for breakfast the next morning, kimchi fried rice, donuts filled with dulce de leche that i packed up for her to take to work and give out
stock pot full of a simmering stock, with a whole chicken, chicken feet, pork bones, ginger, and green onion. i also tossed some dried sardines in for the final half hour for a little extra flavor two plates each with a little pile of kimchi fried rice, each topped with a fried egg a container full of small fried donuts, rolled in sugar and filled with dulce de leche

made a really good pizza dough today (good) but also immediately walked directly into a wall while holding it (tried to walk through a door and missed (bad)). but also caught it in midair after comically toppling over (good) but the sauce and toppings spilled off and onto the floor (bad). there was extra jarred sauce on hand (good) but it was just store brand marinara and not the homemade sauce i made (bad) but i had a little extra sauteed peppers and onions to top it with (good). then i forgot the timer to check the oven (bad), but i remembered to check on it just before it would have burned (good). anyways i just poured half a bottle of baja blast down my shirt while trying to take a sip of it (bad)

Roxanne and i both had pokemon gold cartridges with dead save batteries, so i took them out, soldered in new ones, and cleaned the cartridge pins while i was at it
