My dad studied this dynamic, and published a bunch of research on it, for yrs. Was titled “Does Diversity Pay?” His conclusion was that corporations do more business, not less, when they have more diverse workforces.
Costco has said repeatedly that diversity makes them money. In this Costco is unique. Not that diversity makes companies stronger and better - there's a ton of data on this. But that they aren't so racist that they're willing to leave money on the table to be racist.
