Everett "Eclipse" Darling. he/him. the core concepts that cryptocurrency and genAI rely on are fundamentally harmful.

I make mods for Transformers (2004) (PS2), sometimes.

10. Hollow Knight: Silksong
it's peak. what more can I say?

No but really. The story, characters, and world are all perfect. The difficulty felt spot-on, with only Bilewater getting under my skin a bit (until I found the hidden bench, then I was fine).

More below.

9. Slime Rancher 2
Just realized I never did this for SR2 and Silksong. I played half of SR2 when it first hit early access, then the rest after it hit 1.0. Just as adorable as the first, I love the new slimes and mechanics. I definitely didn't do enough with the crafting system though.

8. Chants of Sennaar. Beautiful puzzle game with a good story. Very well-designed puzzles, there was just enough given as clear and obvious to provide context for the rest, and nothing felt too obtuse or illogical. Deciphering language works so well for this.

Finally upgraded my laptop after 10 years. Got a DIY @frame.work 13" laptop and set it up myself with linux. Great quality manufacturing and easy assembly, loving it so far.

7. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. Solid gameplay. Some minor criticisms here and there but very enjoyable.

Major pro: setting is/features an eclipse. hell yeah.

Major con: the story and writing have all the narrative grace of a middle schooler's first fanfic. The dialog... it's bad.

I'm contractually obligated to mention Transformers (2004). One of my favorites of all time. The minicon loadout system is one of my favorites in a shooter for build customization, even with its flaws.
Best enjoyed on original hardware, emulator struggles with it, though it's gotten a lot better.

6. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. For a metroidvania on the GBA, it's what I would expect. Nothing stood out as amazing, but nothing too bad either.

I really like the magic system. Having each subweapon actually be 5 adds variety, though it would be nice to swap them more easily to experiment

Actual picture of @a2ziegler.bsky.social and I on our way home from Chicago tonight.

Clear, beautiful sunset to the west, sunset-red-tinted thunderstorm to the east (surrounded by a nice double rainbow, too)

roboquest is a blast, I absolutely love it. Commando is more my playstyle but Ranger has The Look

5. Nine Sols. Wonderful game - amazing gameplay, great characters, story, and worldbuilding. Another that I could go on for a while about.
On stream yesterday, I said that the true ending was a bit depressing, but I've thought about it since then and I clearly missed the point. It's a good ending.

4. Sea of Stars. I could go on for hours about this one, both the good and the bad, so if I ever reach my final form as a video essayist this is on top of the list. The tl;dr though:

3. Blue Prince (Kinda). I'm going to call "seeing the ending credits" completing the game in this case, though I still have plenty more to do. I think most of the puzzle design is up there with the Greats (Outer Wilds, The Witness, etc) but the necessity for RNG takes it down a bit for me.
