Ok so far thanks - maybe I’ll do a bit more tomorrow. There are a few cracks towards the base, which I’ve poured some superglue into, but the wood is pretty dry, so hopefully more stable. You’re right though, cherry can split dramatically at times 😀

Possibly an example of cirrus cloud seeded by an aircraft contrail. A knock-on effect of our flying habits.

I’ve always found cherry very prone to splitting unless rough-turned and dried first.

Hard wax oil is one of my favourite finishes - easy to apply and very tough. 🙂

I have the Crown revolution tool. It looks very similar to the one in the photo. The articulated joint looks very similar, but the cutter head is different. I only really use it with a scraper-type cutting tool fitted. I found the ring cutter too aggressive for my skill levels😀
