Streets become MUCH quieter. Small businesses also benefit, as people are more likely to walk into inviting areas and shop at local storefronts. The bioretention basins (or similar) help prevent flooding by absorbing heavy rainfall that would otherwise inundate streets.

Dutch studies estimate widespread helmet use could save 100–110 lives and 1,700–1,900 serious injuries annually, mainly in single-bike crashes -- not high-speed car impacts. Safe cycling relies on infrastructure. Helmets help with minor falls, but rarely with car collisions. References: SWOV, RIVM

The assessment has been publicly revealed in the 2025 Annual Threat Assessment: www.dni.gov/files/ODNI/d... (Page 26, paragraph under the WMD subheading).

My mistake! Except for fully controlled-access highways, it is legal to bicycle on an arterial in my state. I was unaware of this until now. You learn something new every day!

From the video alone, this looks like a local / neighborhood street where cars already drive at slower speeds, but the police seem to enforce it like they are cycling on a busy arterial road.

Check out the filter instances page on the docs.
Mixing bespoke, property, and ancestry filters is extremely powerful.

May take some time to practice and fiddle around with.

Thanks for sharing your insights on the risk compensation hypothesis. I based my thoughts on anecdotes from the Netherlands, where helmet use may reflect a cultural phenomenon rather than a global trend. I also believe it's always safer to wear a helmet than to forgo one.

Hot take: Helmet-free cyclists ride more cautiously. Helmets can create a false sense of safety, leading to riskier behavior. In the Netherlands, fast riders wear helmets, while casual cyclists often don't. Paradoxically, no helmet may mean safer cycling habits.
