My experience isn't 1-1 with what people call a game dev studio, but I see it typically in a subset of people mid-forties and older. Usually less online, less exposed to the controversy. The hype comes from more directive or managerial types who are excited to accelerate workflows, cut costs.

the cult of maximum efficiency is one of the worst things to happen to society. I can’t defend studying Latin or reading for pleasure or spending an hour at the park with my niece in a way that will satisfy shareholders. but they’re worth doing because they’re beautiful and good.
