Obviously we're in hell, but isn't the Kennedy Center by law a living memorial to JFK?

I only think conversions are worth it if they make you want to wear it more! I also like brooches as pendants! I have my great grandfather’s pocket watch as a pendant.

It’s just a perfect piece for me.

An excellent idea! There are many more broaches than barrettes and I’ve considered seeing if a jeweler could alter one if I really fell in love (the locking barrette backs are really critical for wearability). My silver leaf makes me feel like I’m in Lothlorien at all times, which was ultimate goal.

During my hunt I also discovered that the company that makes the really good "Made in France" backs/clips is gone because the factory closed.

I was on a hunt for another beloved barrette (my first is a silver antler) and there's really not many choices, especially for sterling silver!

Last year I bought my actual dream barrette (a sterling silver art nouveau-style leaf) from a smaller luxury designer and it was a huge extravagance but I felt extremely satisfied that while it was being made the price rose $250. More importantly, I wear it nearly every day!

There's so much flexibility in Gen Ed requirements and they really allow you to explore. I just wish I could have figured out how to make a Weather-related class or Photography class work. The timing always conflicted with my history major classes.

Unfortunately we're just all too far apart now, although my mom and I always try to make a cookie together for Christmas itself. I really think holiday cookies are meant to be made with family/friends.

When I was little my family used to have a cookie baking weekend - everyone would bring a dough (already chilled) and then we'd spend the whole weekend rolling, cutting, and baking. Everyone would take home tins with all the cookies and then they'd be given as gifts.

This is such a funny way of framing Thetford, which is such a classic VT town. My grandparents were at various times in Etna, Hanover, Lebanon, and White River Junction!

There are some absolutely infuriating and heartbreaking stories in this book. The people who do search and rescue in the Whites are total heroes and you should do your best to never put them in danger by being reckless and dumb!

Beyond frustrating! It's very depressing how Etsy went from this haven of crafters to drop shipping and AI nonsense. It takes significant effort and knowledge to figure out what's real and what's a scam.

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

I'm personally trying to build up a little library of sewing books so that I do not need to turn to the internet because AI articles have totally overtaken search for genuine techniques.
November 12, 2025 at 7:21 PM
What's frustrated me as someone learning hobbies is that it's totally poisoned the internet. With sewing there are a lot of AI patterns and I haven't been tricked by them, but it's a total waste of money and time for people who are earnestly just trying to find something to make.

You can only tell closeup but I used 5 colors of thread for quilting, alternating randomly: light pink, yellow, medium pink, wine red, classic red.
