I called Mayor-elect Wilson to extend my congratulations. It’s been a very long time since King County and Seattle have both elected new leaders at the same time. That means we have an opportunity for a true reset, to try new strategies and form new partnerships to tackle our region’s challenges.

There are lots of people to blame for protecting Trump, intentionally or otherwise, but history's verdict re: Biden/Garland's manifest failure to hold Trump accountable in the four-years they had to do so should be absolutely brutal. Buchanan/Chamberlain-level indifference and incompetence.

It shows that these leaders don’t view this as an existential crisis that must be remedied now and in the future. If you think, things will ‘go back to normal’, you don’t think about how to stop this again. You don’t think about SCOTUS reform, statehood or anything else. That’s soul crushing.

Yeah I would agree. Part of the reason I left Chicagoland is the tax options don’t allow for better value/quality govt services when the rates are already high. Property taxes seem to be the only way at this point.

I worked in the City’s Budget and Management Office some time ago and it’s amazing how much that organization forgets about municipal competition which always strikes me as odd considering we were still paying Boeing a 7-figure amount for the privilege of having their 200 HQ employees (in 2013).
