Underhill to Radio bakery, then biking the park, is always great. A bunch of new construction in Gowanus so there’s plenty of good (I think 450 Warren is very interesting) and bad (lots of big thick buildings of studios) to view.

Only one caveat is that some lower grade stainless steel doesn’t work. Have to replace a stock pot for that reason, but cast iron couldn’t work better.

One data point for non-NYCHA, but I went with the Copper because old buildings here often don’t have more than 50 amps available per unit so you’d need a much bigger upgrade than just the outlet. Estimate was 8k for me.

Seems like this raises the stakes for taller single stair, so you can get more buildings of <100 units in the same parcel, right?

Thankfully Haven Green will have public green space.

The bummer is that the moment the federal Medicaid cuts were signed the city and state budget for the next 2 years went straight to hell. He’ll be managing reductions through no fault of his own, just bad macro environment.

I miss when the freaks were a sideshow. Would Helen Chenoweth be meaningfully to the right of the median Republican now?

That would be my second choice for sure.

Could absolutely do that, but it’s reasonable math to trade 2/3 the space for 123 deeply affordable homes. If the city made it a park it would need to do a significant upzoning to make up the difference and most of the same people would protest that too.

Those are all actual public parks that any New Yorker can enjoy. Elizabeth Street is a private event space that the leaseholder opens to the public occasionally to trick people into fighting for him to keep monopolizing public space. Haven Green will have actual green space.

Because that land is already owned by the city and the nearby lots already have planned developments.

At least you could have a conversation, since they had legible values.

Humble proposal is that I pay $100 for the game, but if I don’t hit 30 hours in the first year it deletes and I get refunded $60 to spend on the next one.

“I don’t know how to explain that you should care about other people” hits me most weeks now. I sound like an idiot babbling “no it’s wrong to be a bad person you shouldn’t do that.”

As a double loser does he go away after this election or is he just going to roll over his campaign funds for a sweaty fumbling run at a house seat next?

Triggered the happy memory of doing this same thing in college with the edited version. The bad “find a stranger in the alps” dub may have even been better than original.

1491 worked for me mostly to drive home both the scope and implication of post contact mass death. Hadn’t thought about it that closely and now it seems obvious.

For one data point, I’m using one in that situation in prospect heights and it’s mostly fine. ABC can get finicky, but figured out a placement that works.

I genuinely miss the blog era of reading coherent explanations of policy details vs tweets. Probably too brief to be a generational thing, but it’s one of the only “back in my day” things I think about with nostalgia.

Sample size of one, but I found that Air Canada was easily the best points value for booking business class to Europe for a trip (had Amex points to burn). Took a lot of messing around with routing, but well worth it.

Halfway there, and if markets keep pace maybe someday soon I’ll add the rich part too.
