The overarching theme was the importance of maintaining our systems of democracy in the face of new technology and the importance of trust and transparency in the development and use of AI. The discussion could have gone on all night!

The panel discussed a wide range of issues including the recently withdrawn misinformation legislation in Australia, accountability and trust in AI, the potential models for regulation, the impact of generative AI on journalism and the potential of AI to contribute positively to society.
