perhaps it was my mistake to assume atproto had a "spirit" that can be violated to begin with

hair censor as a girl would be tuff i think

black bar censor would be hell if it also had physical properties, imagine trying to do anything with that

we certainly need more shared pdses to take away from bluesky pbc's marketshare, but also anyone with the know-how and resources to selfhost, should. i don't see how these concepts can't coexist or how selfhosting is selfish

lol when people talk about something they have no experience with and then have the absolute gall to block someone who does have experience with that thing for chiming in with their thoughts

im gonna keep it real i would rather have the dirtiest codebase with setup instructions that read like ancient scrolls found buried in a desert than a closed-source atp app

to put it into simple terms, owning a major social media site is not about making profit, instead it's about controlling the medium of information exchange

the ability to do things like tweaking the algorithm to favor your preferred positions is insanely valuable even if it looks like a money pit

>allow pds hosts to set arbitrary restrictions on file uploads per spec
>no way to query the capabilities ahead of time
what did they mean by this?
November 15, 2025 at 8:14 AM
does the pds even provide any way to see its file size limit or would you have to binary search it
November 15, 2025 at 8:09 AM
even that is very not in your face and easily removable. can just turn it off right from the same context menu youd use it from.

mozilla is leading by an extremely long shot when it comes to keeping it non-intrusive like that. just feels like a waste of effort to complain about past a certain point
November 12, 2025 at 11:43 AM
every time firefox adds another (fully on-device, no data sent) ai-powered feature there's another army of people revving their engines to be the first one to complain about... something, i don't know

so yeah, it does happen
