Whenever I feel that, I go to champman0102.net, get the latest database update, maybe start a season which I never finish, and then repeat possibly a year later. 😅

A talent I didn't know they had. But if the University of St Andrews is developing poisonous books, someone has to do something about it.

The Coalition of the Willing to do What?
Eleven weeks ago a“coalition of the willing” gathered together to discuss what they were willing to do. Since then they haven’t appeared willing to do anything at all.

Em putinês, isso significa que ele vai tentar matar ainda mais civis Ucranianos que o costume durante a Páscoa.

As it says in the last paragraphs, it's not that bad after all. Good healthcare and transports, safety, beaches. It's a bit unfortunate that Portuguese culture is reduced to generalisations and personal preferences. I understand it's supposed to be a personal opinion. Well, so is this reply. :)

But complaining about Portuguese food would only be beaten by complaining about Portuguese weather (even though it can rain a lot in Porto). We do have some spicy food, but most of what I miss abroad doesn't require much. Just give me loads of olive oil and I'll be happy. Bland? I disagree.

I agree that we might have a brittle self esteem, an inferiority complex, a melancholy. I think the Spanish are the opposite in terms of personality. I can't say that the dictatorship explains everything, since they had one as well, but perhaps we do have some of that naturally. I for sure have it.

I'm afraid Porto is no longer the best example, since it's become a tourist city in the last years, and if I was living there I might be grumpy as well. But I'd argue that all around the country you can find great hospitality, even if we're more shy than the Spanish (as everyone is).

Well, Irish people are excellent indeed. I've lived there, if only for a year, and that's one of the points that still make me love that country. The Spanish being more open than the Portuguese, well, that's pretty obvious for me. Also, the Spanish are probably more open than any other Europeans.

I'm afraid I'm just proving the point that we Portuguese are touchy. I've been here for some time and have never commented anything. War, terrorism, injustice, whatever. But an Irishman being unhappy while living in my country is an emergency.
