At the end of 2023, 12.8 million non-EU citizens living in the EU held long-term residence permits. The UK was the 5th top country of origin, with 630,000+ British citizens having long-term residence status. First were citizens of Morocco followed by Türkiye (1.5 million each), China & Algeria.

Members and portfolios of the new European Commission have been announced. Each Commissioner will now be evaluated by the European Parliament, incl with hearings in relevant committees. Parliament will then vote to endorse the College.
