The paper explores how the ongoing war complicates Ukraine’s efforts to meet EU accession criteria, particularly on minority rights, highlighting tensions over the use of Russian and the role of kin-state minorities, such as Hungary’s.

The 2025 edition highlights three key themes:

▫️ Immigrant inclusion through naturalisation
▫️ Security of status and provisions for citizenship deprivation

Drawing on updated legal information and longitudinal trends on dual citizenship since 1960, the report maps the variety of ways in which states regulate access to citizenship through birth, naturalisation, and loss of status.

5 years after the outbreak, many of the crises revealed by the pandemic—polarisation, disinformation, global fragmentation—remain pressing. This event marks the end of 3 years of collaborative research on how to rebuild democratic resilience in a time of geopolitical turbulence.

Her work—centred on institutional accountability, shared responsibility, and legal gaps in the EU’s human rights regime—has made a direct contribution to the legal debate at the highest level. 🙌
