Big milestone yesterday - past 10,000km on my electric cargo bike, which I got in April2023. Ottawa is a sprawling city but you can still replace so many car trips with an e-bike… even with kids!

Why would anyone think this is ok? Just hanging out. There are parking spots on the other side of the bike lane!

Car-pooled and drove my kid and a friend to their scouts hike last night at the Dewberry trail… but did stop for a decent load of groceries early this morning after school drop-off.

And the south half of Braemar directly in front of the school is slated to get sidewalks as a First phase project in the TMP pedestrian project list… so in a few years we’ll have a stretch of sidewalk that does not connect to any sidewalks beyond perimeter of the school. Make it make sense😣

…as I walk along similar residential street (Valley Dr) in Alta vista that has new sidewalks, road narrowing, speed bumps etc on a road leading to a school. One of the streets in MP slated for sidewalks was north half of Braemar… leads directly to Manor Park Public school 🤦♀️

That is all in the plan - much narrower than current, raised intersections, etc

I always get a kick out of biking my kid to summer hockey camp - quite a few smiles along the way!
But honestly with a front rack and a bungee cord it’s no different than biking him to any other camp! #OttBike

Within 2 blocks of the proposed sidewalks that many residents don’t want are two parcels of land (red) planned for significant densification over coming decades -1000s of new residents as part of the Manor Park Official Plan Amendment. We need to plan for the future! #OttWalk @rawlson.bsky.social
