I concur, thanks for the talk though.

You have said a free market society cannot be virtuous; all systems are fallible; capitalism always becomes oligarchy; and that virtue is in trying to improve a system. If virtue can't exist in a free market, what's to stop oligarchy happening instantly? I'm trying to say that virtue can still exist
June 23, 2025 at 5:42 PM
I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to infer haha. If virtue stands against the devolution of capitalsm into oligarchy, what's to say that virtue can't exist in a free market?
June 23, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Again, I absolutely agree. Your initial comment said that capitalsm is rigged and always leads to oligarchy eventually. You restated your point was that all systems are fallible. What does a fallible system look like if not something tyrannical? Oligarchy is by its nature tyrannical
June 23, 2025 at 5:24 PM
On all points I agree. I think the question I asked was flawed. By your logic all systems are fallible so all systems will devolve into tyranny eventually, would that not be a reasonable conclusion to draw from your point?
Perhaps virtue and trying to maintain virtue actually stands against tyranny?
June 23, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Completely reasonable! Text can be notorious for losing subtext
June 23, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Ergo is a bit broad a stroke wouldn't you say?
June 23, 2025 at 4:39 PM
I'm saddened to read you reduce my personal views. My apologies if I've offended you or made you feel like I was attacking you, that is not the case.
I think perhaps we should agree to disagree.
June 23, 2025 at 4:22 PM
That's absolutely possible, I often find realism skews into the negative and while that has its use I'm not sure it's always as reflective of reality as the name suggests. I don't think I can speak on your experience with Buddhism, but I've seen it have a positive effect on many people in my life.
June 23, 2025 at 3:52 PM
Your conclusion is a bit too cynical for my tastes haha; maybe I just have a bit more hope left to lose. Virtue isn't a place, but a journey, I agree. I think a society that tries to be virtuous is virtuous for the act of trying.
June 23, 2025 at 3:18 PM
I'm concerned I misread that, is your opinion that society cannot be virtuous? How do we build a better system if all systems we create are fallible?
June 23, 2025 at 3:06 PM
Do you think that a free market world can be virtuous? In your opinion, Is the devolution into oligarchy a product of the system or the people it creates?
June 23, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Lamest oligarchy, I don't think a soap opera could've written it worse.
