En Europa y en el mundo, pueden acontecer eventos que desencadenan respuestas violentas anti musulmanas y racistas, mostrando que la
violencia en línea puede amplificar la violencia en las calles.

1/2 I took part in the #UnitedAgainstHate campaign, notifying antisemitic & anti-Muslim content to 3 platforms (X, Youtube & instagram). The results are horrifying! Out of 161 antisemitic & anti-Muslim items reported, only 3 items were removed (2 on YouTube & 1 on instagram) unitedagainsthate.online

I attended an inspiring meeting earlier today organised by Equinet, the European Network of Equality Bodies. It was an important reality check of where we stand in terms of fighting discrimination in Europe and what remains to be done. Never take progress as granted and let's leave no one behind!

I was happy to receive an award on Diversity and Inclusion at the @ec.europa.eu for being a Changemaker of the year alongside colleagues working on the fight against racism and beyond. Much more needs to be done, at a time when we witness horrifying levels of hate speech and actual hate crimes.

Grateful for the discussion today with Mathias Ott from #DILCRAH 🇨🇵 about the different manifestations of anti-Muslim hatred/racism in Europe & good practices that can be replicated to tackle the phenomenon. Recent hateful events in 🇪🇺 & beyond must be a wake-up call.

A month ago, I exchanged with H.E. Erol Avdovic, Ambassador of BiH, about anti-Muslim hatred in Europe. Today, as we mourn #AboubakarCisse murdered in France, he quoted the words of Rumi: "Not the ones speaking the same language but the ones sharing the same feeling understand each other"

I spoke at Antalya Diplomacy Forum with peers from UN, OSCE, OIC & other stakeholders. I recalled in the panel on racism that democracy, the rule of law & fundamental rights should never be taken for granted in any country of the world. Combatting racism & discrimination is a daily endeavour.

Today was a special day as we started in Brussels the 2nd coordination meeting on combatting anti-Muslim hatred, racism & discrimination, ahead of the international day. I recently met @ndmedienmacher.bsky.social, who does vital work and research on racism and specifically anti-Muslim racism in media in Germany. They raise awareness among (future) journalists and professionals of the media about racism. The organisation advocates for diversity in the media world.

Today is my 1st day in our new office at the Secretariat General of the European Commission, together with @euantisemitism.bsky.social & other colleagues. I am welcomed by a picture of beautiful Omeriye mosque of downtown Nicosia which I know particularly well, having lived nearby for several years.
