In the mossy, talus boulders grotto at Tiger Mountain.
Jakob Two Trees, a very large troll made from scrap wood including shingles and pallets. Among several huge mossy boulders in the forest much taller than people. Looking through a slot in the boulders to the misty forest trail on the other side of the grotto. A narrow forest trail through tall boulders with a large tree growing out of the boulder face along the trail. In between the tall boulders looking up the tree growing out of the face of one boulder.

It's been a fun fall for mushrooms! If a bunch of birds is a flock, and a bunch cows is a herd, let's call a bunch of mushrooms a pub of mushrooms. After all, they're all real fun guys.

Some fall color on a sunny Sunday at Snoquera Falls

An autumn day on the Foothills Trail along the Carbon River.
Tall golden-leaved maple trees on both sides of the trail. Blue sky with some clouds. A peak at the Carbon River. A wide bend of the Carbon River flowing through gravel deposit with autumn trees on the river banks and dramatically sunlit clouds overhead. Seed heads of evergreen clematis with clusters of brown seeds with long, wavy, white threads. A very fuzzy wooly bear caterpillar crawling on my red pack. We can see the shiny black head and eyes. The fuzz is orange in the middle and black on both ends.

Woodland Pinedrops, 3, 30 inch tall red stems each covered with fuzzy, sticky cream flowers hanging like tiny paper lanterns. Fun wiggly reflection of tree trunks, green leaves and boulders. Two large boulders, one resting on the other forming a tunnel in the forest. Glacier erratics are fun!

One of the locals at Burroughs Mountain, MRNP
A well-fed ground squirrel eating something yummy. It's kinda sitting up. It's face is golden brown. It has long black and white stripes from its ears and down its shoulders and sides. The ground squirrel standing by the toe of my boot. It's checking me out to see if I have snacks. The squirrel from above as it checks the pebbles for goodies. It's very sleek and well-fed!

Staircase Rapids before the Bear Gulch fire. 8500 acres burned so far. I'm sure it looks so different now. Olympics NP at Lake Cushman.

A pleasant stroll at Ellis Cove

Some fun on the PCT near Pickhandle Gap, Crystal Mountain
Miles of flower meadows on the mountainside Our large icy volcano Mount Rainier over Crystal Mountain's ridges and meadows. This flower is called Mount Rainier lousewort. It's short yellow flower cluster has many petals all around the top shaped like down-turned beards beaks! A Vista of snow covered ridges including Goat Rocks and another volcano, Mount Adams.

Striped coralroot (Corallorhiza striata) What's that in the upper right flower? This is on the Wonderland Trail between Longmire and the Carter Falls at Mount Rainier NP.
An amazing flower that looks like it's from outer space. It's a two foot tall pink stem covered with lots of wild blossoms. The flower petals have bold pink and white stripes. Some petals are long and thin curling around in all directions. On the bottom one broad petal hangs down like a hand catching a ball. The whole coralroot plant is glowing with the sun shining on it and through it. At the top are two petals like upside down cups. In the right side petal you can see spider legs sticking out and some shiny spider web threads.

This tiny white flower grows at the feet of giant Douglas Fir and Cedar trees on the Trail of the Giants.
Inside-out flower
Vancouveria hexandra
A tiny white flower, smaller than your finger nail has the opposite shape of a normal flower. The center of the flower extends forward and down forming a narrow white tube with the stamens on the end. At the back of the flower 4 petals curl forward towards the front making each blossom look like a white trumpet. A slender green stem goes through the trumpet opening of the petal deep inside the tube where it attaches the blossom to the plant. Many cedar and fir trees with lush, tall ferns at their base stretch more than 100 feet up towards the clouds in the blue sky.

A stroll along the pleasant Big Creek Loop. It has nice waterfalls, trees and flowers. A great place to relax in nature
Small but beautiful waterfalls among mossy rocks in the forest. A rocky creek flowing through tall trees in the forest. An old tree stretches in a curve to the right. It has ridges, bumps and holes that look like a face with one giant eye. Another lovely creek in the forest.
