Yeah, he and all of Think Tank have to do and don’t believe that
UNIT are faking aliens at the same time. Including their inside man who works in the same building as actual aliens.

And I can't believe they missed an opportunity to fix the apparent time jump between 'Space Babies' and 'The Devil's Chord'. So close!

I think you could have had 'Love and Monsters' story and the dangers of trying to be like the Doctor, without the twist. If you go down the hoax route it needs to make sense why Think Tank would believe that was the case.

Also, if Think Tank think UNIT create the aliens, why would they turn up to the Shreek sighting, since they'd 'know' they weren't responsible for these aliens. It doesn't make sense that Think Tank think it would be a hoax.

While it was good to address the issue of weaponised misinformation, it doesn't really work within the setting itself. For Conrad to believe aliens are being faked, along with the inside man who knows there are aliens in the basement, seems delusional.

The reveal about Conrad and public turning against UNIT comes much too late and so the pacing seems off (could really have done with being a two parter), and UNIT again coming off as looking ineffective.

It was interesting that the Doctor deferred to Belinda. They were also both learning that they still had some ways to overcome their own ingrained views.
The altered history without Earth reminded my of a similar storyline in Big Finish's Stranded boxsets.

But how unimpressed was that kid that a cartoon character was climbing out of the screen?

It was a nice touch having the sketch lines appearing on the Doctor and Belinda as they were transformed into cartoons.

It is strange that the 'gods' seem to be undone by the thing they are the gods of, and we've seen the whole 'over feeding' tactic used against villains before, but Mr Ring-a-Ding's ascension was oddly beautiful.

Mr Ring-A-Ding was a great design, whether in 2D or 3D. Nice that Belinda actually questioned what he was supposed to be. The antenna suggest he is some kind of bug man.

It felt like a classic 1960s story where Belinda (and the viewer) jumped to the last episode, which is a good way to handle it. I liked that Belinda was quick to start helping the rebels with changing IV bags, rather than just standing by. All good signs for the rest of the season.

Sasha's death managed to pack a punch, despite her limited screentime. They got across that the Doctor picks up companions, but not all survive. I'm glad they took a beat to show the effect this had on him.

The Mrs Flood cameo and her 4th wall breaking was fun at the start, and surprise reveal of who was behind the AI Generator was well handled.
I thought the disintegration effect was really eye-catching, the way the victims would freeze and then sizzle away.
