Part-time rain god, I cycle a fair bit, like cooking, follow politics, wish people could just be decent to each other.
Disgraceful driving. Please report that. Met Roadsafe can at times be rather inconsistent, but that looks pretty cut-and-dried to me.

How did those coppers know the rider had gone through a red light? Not condoning it, but they could not see the traffic light in question, and I have reported a number of drivers going through red lights at pelican crossings only to be told NFA as the actual red light was not visible in the footage.

Oh, I thought they applied to the full width of the road, including pavements.

Is she not parked on the zigzags by a predestrian crossing. Does she not relise that, were she (hypothetically, of course!) to be reported for that, should could end up with a fine and points on her licence?

Actually, the problem is, I could believe it. Sadly. I just didn't want to.

I passed that last night, could not believe it.

That headline sounds like John's had his road to Damascus moment. It's a call for LTNs if ever I saw one.
August 12, 2025 at 10:32 PM
But the poor driver had *literally* nowhere else to park, look, somebody inconsiderately put a bin and a lamp post where he REALLY NEEDED to be!
Sarcasm aside, dismal and oozing with entitlement, but I'm surprised they didn't park in the bus stop with their hazards on, as that's OK then apparently.

My daughter and I had oodles of fun yesterday getting our bakfiets through the triple barrier at the western end of Wandsworth Park on the signposted cycle route, rather than brave Putney Bridge Racetrack, sorry, I mean Road.

Why not compromise? Host it in London, but line the streets with the Maple Leaf flag and get the RCMP to provide the mounted escort? Optional extra: serve poutine at the state banquet. 🇨🇦

It is this pair of junctions, and the number of incidents I witnessed, that made me choose other, longer routes to avoid CS7 whenever possible. Other parts of CS7 have been improved over the years but nothing has been done here to reduce risk.
June 21, 2025 at 11:15 AM
The writer talks about accidents a lot, not collisions. Even managed to include it in the correction at the bottom of the article (which is also wrong about the location of the footage vs the actual most dangerous junction). Could somebody at the MPS please have a word with them?

Welcome to Wandsworth.

It seems somebody at the council might be reading our posts! The belisha beacons at the zebra crossing by Ellerton Rd have been switched on, and this morning there was a temporary light controlled pedestrian crossing where the Toucan crossing will be.

For two years we had to cross there to get our son to and from nursery. It was hard enough with a buggy without construction lorries repeatedly obliterating the traffic island at that location.
June 10, 2025 at 11:27 AM
So they have removed the traffic islands (which admittedly I never liked much) but have not yet put in the crossings that are meant to replace them (except on Beechcroft Rad), making it harder to cross Burntwood Lane. If the council cared about active travel it could have prioritised the crossings.

Rear window's open.
On a totally unrelated note, are stink bombs still a thing?

I rode part of the road on the other side of the canal last weekend, absolutely loved it. Good surface and not a single motor vehicle between Driemond and Fort bij Nigtevecht. Presume it is quiet beyond there too.
Also took the little ferry at Nigtevecht earlier on the ride - an utter delight!

Did they previously also campaign against the dangerous car parking bays in the same location? Thought not...
Note also, there has been a contraflow bike lane along King St for decades.

Doesn't really surprise me. When they rehashed Magdalen Rd they briefly installed a tram stop at one of the informal crossings (near Titchwell I think), according to the tactile paving laid down.
March 30, 2025 at 2:13 PM
I hate refuges. I find them inherently unsafe. But Wandsworth seems in the thrall of informal crossings (as I discovered when corresponding with officers over the lack of crossings on Magdalen Rd) as they are cheap and don't hold up traffic.
