First fully bilingual Inupiaq lawyer to argue two cases back-to-back at Alaska Supreme Court. Retired...but not from fishing, cooking, reading, baking, walking, messing with my digital camera, nor from life with a Maltipoo.
Whoops. I added script for a couple of birthday greetings.

I haven't even read your piece yet, but thank the Lord, O My Soul, for fellow attorneys like you!

Lovely. Just lovely. Thanks much.

Wonder what seafood that might work with, although I can only think of the white fishes for now--Alaskan halibut or cod, maybe?

Oh, yums. I grew up with Mom's Betty Crocker cookbook. We were in Wainwright, Alaska, so even recipe substitutions were often unavailable.
I love cooking with root vegetables. Raw or julienned, as well. Thanks for this.

SIGH. I'm dearly missing access to farmer's markets. I came home to Alaska for work after law school. Just have had to scramble ever since for ingredients that used to be readily available. Shrimp, other seafood, we have a-plenty. I took a screen shot of your comment. I cook the same way.

Thank you for this. I had siblings and in-laws, cousins, and "friends" who expected me to carry the weight of the relationship. I quit on many. At age 70, I have better things to do.

Do tell....

Good for you! I grew up eating my grandmother's sourdough pancakes and bread, and Mom's yeast bread and Irish soda biscuits. As long as it tastes good, that's all that matters.

I'd love to make the shrimp and mango salad. I am on the Western Kenai Peninsula, though, and in winters/early spring, all we can find are mealy mangoes. I'm trying to find the nearest taste/texture equivalent.

Such a great caption! 😆

Have you tried it with udon noodles? I try to stay within my dietitian's limits--but I also love my Asian foods. I think I drove him a bit nuts. I'm Inupiaq (north Alaskan Eskimo) and there's little scientific analysis of our foods in connection with cholesterol. Much more for Asian foods now.

I do hope that you're a featured speaker at the Arctic Encounter. I haven't seen a list lately. I really appreciate the depth and breadth of these conferences.

I don't know how he adjusted a recipe from one of his cookbooks. We trade my sourdough for his banana bread. Before he gets too much older, though, I will ask.
