If you haven't yet, it's really beyond time to do SOMETHING to exercise your voice. I finally got around to emailing my senator. Enjoy (and contact yours too! It seems intimidating but it's a Google search away).
Text of email sent to senator: Hello, I have a desperate plea for you regarding the absolute unchecked power of the current administration and the acts Congress has taken to rectify this. I don't know how you prefer your wording so I enter in a polite version and a blunt version. Polite version: over the course of the Trump administration it has become clear that Congress is taking no real action to exert its very real power of checks and balances. It is unclear whether this is apathy or willingly becoming complicit, but either way it is no longer acceptable. As your constituent, who voted for you, I am urging you to get out there and take risks for the American people. Don't let Cory Booker waste his energy. YOU have the power to continue his work. It was incredibly difficult to categorize this email because there are so many things systemically wrong. Eventually I chose what I did because I was finally tired enough of Trump's unauthorized tariffs and needed to remind someone, anyone, in Congress that THEY are the ones with tariff power, not Trump. Congress can stop this. Now will you? Blunt version: could someone please get off their ass and grow some balls to stand up to the massive man-child that is our current King-in-Progress? Don't forget you work for America, not for our monarch. Don't sit by and be complicit.
