Unfocused Warcraft rambling.
Seeing people say the egregious typos and poor English in the Tempest Keep weapon plaques will be fixed since it's just a beta as I play 10 year old Legion content that still has blatant typos in it

Increasingly difficult to reconcile that there's like two writers on the team that genuinely seem to enjoy the setting and everyone else have the maturity and propensity towards working together of 8 year olds trying to convince you the new toy they got last week is cooler than yours (you are 30+)

Very bold of them to put the dungeon content done by SC adjacent to the open world quest likely done by knife. About as coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb as you can get

Really not understanding why they decided to rigidly separate these forces from each other and paint them as all diametrically opposed then also decide they're all more or less the same and do the same things.

The whole cosmic void thing they started in Aberrus already took most things unique about void, which was already subsuming anything unique about shadow magic, and made it purple arcane with glass and star effects. Everything is becoming the same bland Power but with different cosmetics.

Thankfully Anduin reminded us that monster races can be good guys in the Warcraft IP in 2024, a much needed reminder for a series currently in the middle of the Keeping Up With the Windrunners trilogy and that all started with the hit game Warcraft: Elves and Humans.

In typical Blizzard fashion their analysis of the pendulum swinging back and forth struggling to find a medium space being a problem appears to have been getting the pendulum hard stuck in one extreme and calling it fixed.

mfw this is literally one of the datamined trading post themes for 2026

I think they're aware of it a la the very first line of K'aresh being Alleria pointing out how this has nothing to do with the rest of TWW, but they seem clueless on how to actually resolve this inability to bridge plots so they just poke fun at themselves instead.

They might be the most nonsensical villain group ever. Even the Twilight's Hammer has the excuses of being brainwashed and simple lust for power. The Primalists have fanatical, suicidal devotion to dragons they've never met from 20,000 years ago and just appeared out of nowhere.

I've come to the same conclusion. I think the reliance on quest designers for almost everything has paralyzed the entire IP save Hearthstone. Everything is reliant on vibes and when the vibes are off, they don't know how to pivot. WoW internally is defined as /their/ story and nothing else.

I maintain BfA broke Warcraft as a setting more than SL and this is the anti-BfA: surely you don't have to worry about your writing alienating players if you simply stop writing characters and story and just tell them what the story is and what they should feel about it directly.

Every character with something resembling a motivation has to tirelessly explain in corpo apology speak all the different angles around their beliefs and ESPECIALLY must reassure us that the Good Guys are great even if they don't agree with them. Everyone in this setting feels afraid to be in it.
November 19, 2025 at 1:25 PM
Everyone in Midnight overexplains themselves to the point of feeling like you're reading internal cliff notes for the story rather than dialogue itself. It's reaching absurd levels of lacking confidence. Anytime I see more than 3 paragraphs it reads like a writer begging me to not assume /anything/.

It's so quintessentially modern Blizzard for them to think that the 11.0 finale was an ending to Anduin's arc and that they can safely address the remaining questions with a giant shrug.

These aren't characters and worlds being written, just chess pieces and boards.

Look at the Dalaran epilogue questline where the characters are all constantly telling you to not feel too strongly about this and to keep your emotions in check.

They want to tell these character-focused stories but make all their characters act like obedient automatons instead of people.

The bit about anger is why I loathe the Shandris/Lillian quest in Amirdrassil or the Lightblinded retcon for Turalyon. Every instance of strong emotion is now being portrayed as actually possession by a spirit or cosmic force. Nobody is allowed to feel any emotion but vague stern duty or depression.

I for one welcome our fast approaching future where every character's personality, beliefs, and desires can all be written as "likes X cosmic force, hates Y cosmic force" (all cosmic forces are identical save their colors)
November 4, 2025 at 10:17 PM
Who even is the leader of SW now? Faerin's last story has them returning to Stormwind at the end and the narration addresses Anduin as king, so they're implying he's not abandoned his title.

Like, what happened? Have they just been in stasis from 11.1.7 until the Sunwell calls them in 12.0?

The Arcantina is right there in the same expansion for people who need WoW characters that are more sanitized and lifeless than modern Animal Crossing characters, too!
October 29, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Endgame state of a playerbase and game writers who think the only legitimate conflict is "his cosmic force is yellow and hers is purple" and anything that's slightly relatable to what actual human beings understand is a mistake that needs to be immediately corrected tbh
October 29, 2025 at 3:21 PM
I assumed they want to keep pushing Jaina as the ambiguously neutral mage with no responsibilities or ties to anything in the world except to show up whenever the plot needs a mage portal opened.
October 29, 2025 at 2:07 PM
He's the Designated Orc now aside from Thrall. I don't think it helps either that the Arcantina feels less like a tavern and more like the communal space of a retirement home.
October 29, 2025 at 1:50 PM
I don't know. I'm starting to believe that if you stepped into their writer's room and stated "the actions and events of the past are the foundation of the present", you'd get a lot of angry stares and groaning about how you're stifling their creativity.
