We don’t lose when AI gets better at mimicking us. We lose when we believe what it makes is BETTER. We lose when we stop seeing the value in the human hand, the human mind, the human heart.

7 hours in, my drawings look pretty strange. #drawing often utilises a layering process, and those first layers make up the foundations. But the foundations look strange - odd areas of blocks of tone, strange looking shadows.

But I trust the process!

Why do I go on so much about how long my drawings take? Honestly, because I get asked all the time! Part of the beauty of hyperrealism is the time and effort that goes into each piece.

What defines something as ‘art’? The answer to this question is different for everyone, and no one person is right or wrong, it’s just opinion. That’s why art is so incredible: it’s fluid and can’t actually be easily defined.

‘Trust the process’

When I have an idea, I scribble it down quickly, and usually these first sketches are really terrible 😂 but I think it’s important to make bad drawings - I’m reminded of my journey. And I think reflecting from where we have come from is really inspiring and motivating!

The most difficult part of every drawing is adding the signature 😂

Why? Well, I love to hide my signature amongst the work, usually very small, and I love to add the year too… which means writing EXTREMELY small. I only get one chance to make the signature perfect, so… it’s quite scary!!!
