I was never on Twitter so don’t really know what I’m doing. I’ll probably just post pictures of things I’ve made. I like arty and crafty things and their combinations.
I was a bit shocked to learn that black-headed gulls lose their black heads in the winter. They’re common in Finland but leave in late summer so I had never seen one with winter plumage and thought that they had some new exotic seagulls in Estonia. (At least I assume that’s what this one is)

I love trams and prefer to take them even if takes a bit longer. I usually commute by train because it’s simpler but apparently it would only take about 10 minutes longer by tram though I would have to transfer.

I don’t really know how to do ceramics but I’ve taken this class inspired by Finnish artist Rut Bryk a few times. Clay is pressed into molds carved from plaster, also buttons and fish and little pieces that might become a mosaic one day.

I grew up in a cohousing community. It turned 40 this year and I returned there after twenty years to celebrate. In some ways it felt like a much shorter time, probably because I’m in contact with many of the people on social media and my mother still lives nearby.

I got to see my favourite band tonight and it was awesome. I also spent two hours talking with a woman who in addition to Manic Street Preachers also likes the same obscure Finnish band as I and we might meet up at their gig in a few months.

My berry madness has a goal. A main component of my diet is eating plain yogurt and quark with half a banana and some berries or fruit and maybe muesli for breakfast and dinner. Ideally it would always be berries but my freezer isn’t large enough. Currently I have enough for maybe 90 portions.

Berry season has started in Finland and my gatherer instincts have activated. I spent four hours in the forest this morning, could have stayed longer but I ran out of containers (I like to use small plastic containers I can freeze them in) and started worrying about UV.

I was looking at photos from when I was an exchange student in The Netherlands twenty years ago and I think that these sheep are probably among the best photos I’ve ever taken, mostly owing to the photogenic sheep.

It’s still cold here but according to a Finnish proverb it’s only “a bit” from the first wagtail to summer.

I used to do quite a lot of embroidery and was decent at it. However it’s been years and I feel very rusty now that I want to get back to it so made a small improvised sampler to practice. I used to really like chain stitch and it still looks nice unlike some of the others. #embroidery

I’m a pretty casual #Eurovision fan and just recently watched all of the songs this year. My current favorites apart from KAJ and Erika Vikman (as a Finn I can’t view them neutrally) are Italy, Latvia and Australia. Surprisingly my mother disliked both Italy and Latvia and really liked Australia.

I did my taxes today, in the cafeteria of a public pool, on my phone after aqua jogging. It took about five minutes. I also could just have done nothing and accepted the proposed tax return the tax office sent but I had a few deductions I wanted to add.

🧵 A few months ago I developed a weird desire to organize some kind of collage workshop or event. I’m not a teacher or (obviously) a professional artist and I haven’t done any collage in years. I think that it was partly a way of getting rid of some of the papers I’ve collected over the years.

Very badly printed skirt but I like it. The skirt used to be an uncomfortable dress I made and then cut in half to make a skirt I never wore. I’m not sure that I’m going to wear this one either but I can use the fabric for something else.

🧵I like choosing my voting location based on the election we’re having, unless I’m feeling lazy and just go to the nearest one. We’re currently having early voting for municipal election so I went to the Helsinki city hall. For parliamentary elections I’ve gone to an annex of the parliament.

I’m taking a class on screen printing on fabric and yesterday I tried printing on clothes. It was stressful but I’m very happy with the results. One screen was exposed with UV light and the others use a vinyl sticker, all were designed by me.

I bought shoes last year that are kind to my problematic feet but the color was too neutral for me. I feel like I’m doing something forbidden drawing on shoes but there’s no one to stop me.

I like taking art and craft classes. Today a familiar looking woman greeted me. I couldn’t place her and felt embarrassed but then realized that just this year I’ve met eighty new people at classes. I like talking and dislike eye contact so maybe it’s not that weird that people remember me better.

I’ve been drawing very similar flowers for maybe fifteen years. Lately I feel like I’m entering a new phase.

I’ve been storing my drawings in a few drawers that I now need for something else and I have been organising them for storage elsewhere. These are things I did as a student about two decades ago and I rather like them. I studied visual communication, we weren’t expected to be professional artists.

I was inspired by the great mushrooms here to see if I could find any in the Finnish winter. These are my favourites. The last one is hair ice caused by fungus and I’ve wanted to see it since I heard about it. I have idea of what the others are. #mushrooms
