This will read as sour grapes, but truly the Matthew effect is alive & well. One must wonder about the full nature of the entertainment, too. Meanwhile, scientist attention is being bought to this day by CZI, hopefully for good but so easily derailed by influence.

I think it derailed during the second Obama term. Enough of our country was (is) sufficiently racist to set this (waves hands around) in motion as a countermeasure. Let's hope that part grows up or out, finally. 🌈

Very interesting, thanks for the explainer! Does amniotic mesoderm exist for a time in gastruloids? Might the actin cap be in these or cells fated to be adjacent as it zips up posterior body? Even if birds are also amniotes... their heads start as layered discs around end of notochord, not spheres!

User @Prisonculture assures followers that decent people really do outnumber the assholes, since we all need a morale boost on occasion from the unrelenting evidence that even a small number of assholes can ruin or even take lives. But power is in numbers, so up to "decency" to take it back.

I made the dire mistake of pouring a little bowl of milk for my very adult cat, as I was drinking some and I know she likes it. The old lady was sick about eight times up and down the hall. My bad.
A long hallway with large gray tiles and four (of ultimately eight) puddles of cat spaced every 6 feet or so and marked with paper towels. At the end, silhouetted in a lit doorway, the guilty party is seated for a pose.

Intensité des 51 vagues de chaleur mesuré en durée sur l'axe x et intensité maximale sur l'axe y, ou les deux épisodes de l'été 2025 figurent en bonne place parmi d'autres de plus en plus fréquentes de cet ère.

Wait until I show you the SCOBY I've let go to vinegar for lack of general interest in the product, me included. Less appetizing but they started from the same culture. 🍽️🧪

Morning, squirrel. #RedSquirrel
Red squirrel at edge of swimming pool, alert on hind legs for possible danger. It's breast is white and front paws nearly clasped in front of chest. Ruddy squirrel hanging from hind claws over side of pool to drink from none-too-clean surface far below, as we're in a drought with restricted water use. Its tail flat out behind helps it stabilize.

Dutch 🧪 on movement for fun 🏃🏿. "[Wild] mice and some shrews, rats and frogs were seen to leave the wheel & enter it again within minutes in order to continue wheel running. This observation indicates that wheel running may well be intentional [&] a voluntary behaviour for feral animals in nature."

Please note that the vertical axis has been broken in order to accommodate the mice, which accounted for 88% of the wheel running. Also note that birds visited the recording equipment occasionally, but never ran in wheels. Species were identified using video recordings. Stills taken from these recordings show examples of (b) a [wild] mouse, (c) a frog and (d) a slug using the wheel.

Mostly white floofy cat with orange ears and the occasional black spot stretched out on her left side for the part of her on the oriental carpet she's not supposed to sit on, and sphinx-like for the front part of her body, on her approved gray fleece blanket. Her eyes are closed in apparent contentment.
