Thanks! Not as intrepid as the Nile but it definitely was an endurance test, especially the upstream sections!

Some shellshock for the first few days, but adjusting back to normal life again. Even tempted to pick up my paddles this weekend :)

Just thinking back to April, I had only planned a "short" 2.5 month trip. Lol

I stayed the night at my brothers and just arrived home a couple of hours ago. The realisation of being home is just starting to sink in properly. It'll likely take a while to readjust to "normal" life!

It's strange being back in civilisation & I have a feeling it'll take a few days or weeks to adjust back to normal life.

The corrected tally for the entire trip was 13,348 km, nearly half done paddling upstream. I'll check & analysis my GPS tracks over the next few weeks for the final stats.

River was much more open in the end, bordered mostly by farmland. A taste of the northern rivers was a very pleasant way to finish the trip.

I was met by my brother and driven back home past Warwick, where I had started 9 months ago.

It's still hard to comprehend the magnitude of the trip.

Relatively busy with couple campers & fishermen. Usual animals. Starting to see the paperbarks transition to Casuarina like on the Macintyre, there are no signs of any bottlebrushes yet.

Portages: 14 riffles, 8 log (1 bank), 3 rapids.

River # via the Path Finder app.

Macintyre Falls to Yetman are very choked with bottlebrushes. The early paddlers done well to make it down!

I wonder if the dams have made it worse as these need fairly constant water to survive.

All portages were preplanned from the US leg & I didn't hold back much knowing what was around the corner, only getting into minor trouble once, muscling the boat straight to avoid a capsize.

Couple fishermen, usual wildlife with a brown swimming.

There were some gorgeous waterholes above Yetman, shame they were so hard to get to. :(

Two surprise red-belly encounters. The first was walking through waist high grass in thongs & seeing one slither by, the second on a difficult portage (pictured).

Camped by a waterhole near the first hills.

Any hope of reaching the Severn River is almost gone, Mandoe Rd is the current goal.

Storm hit as I started looking for a camp with a couple of close lightning strikes. Rain started just as I pulled up.

There was plenty of stock around, mostly cattle with some sheep, along with the usuals. Couple goannas seen today & a brown snake swimming yesterday.

Yep. Just DS of Yetman atm.

Weirpool was low, maybe a 5 to 10 km reach before lots of fast flowing sections. My speed plummeted with 8 riffle walks. When fill, the reach almost gets to the Dumaresq.

Flow eased after the Dumaresq, although I only made it about 7 km further upstream before calling it a day.

I'll just note that it's 23 km to Toomelah. I'll probably surprise myself lol

Haha. I did, but I gave myself a 50% chance of back-paddling to Walgett from somewhere like Mungindi.

Hehe. I was sound asleep before 9pm!

Traversing along the state border with 2 different time zones makes it interesting. My alarm randomly seemed to go off when paddling today.

My phone switches to the time zone of the last tower it connected to, so this switched to QLD time last night. This is 1 hr behind NSW daylight savings.
