I much prefer GNU to RIP, precisely because it lets the person live on in memories. My go-to reaction to hearing that a loved one or someone a friend knew has crossed the black sands is to GNU, which inevitably leads to confusion and explanations...

Yes! Some years ago someone set up a club at work and whoever finished the book and reviewed it first chose the next one. It died because it was always the same, fastest readers picking books they liked, leaving the rest to struggle through books that weren't for them. 😞

I'm the child who pointed and laughed at a CD player in a shop because those little silver discs would never replace records. I have likely over 100 cassettes still but I'm scared to play them because the last one I played had deteriorated so badly. At least my mountain of CDs won't do that. 🤞
