Latest listen: The Book Eaters by @sunyidean.com - best take on vampires I’ve read in ages. Stubborn queer character written and narrated by neurodivergent people…. I know from the interview that it wasn’t written as neurodivergent representation specifically but it resonated.

My favourite way to knit yellow is in a rainbow, a gradient, or yellow-green. The feeling of light or shifting landscapes.

For #ShowMeYourKnits yellow week, here is a pair of Freddy Beach Socks by @knitsiphappy.bsky.social knit in a one-of-a-kind colour dyed by Lichen and Lace. 🧶
Feet in yellow and green socks rest on a water rower (yeah, I’ll put shoes on to row). The pattern has slipped stitches that help make the softly variegated yarn pool and dapple.

Flourish by Curious Handmade was my May sock project. I knit them in @indigodragonfly.bsky.social Good Trouble Sock. I think these are my first orange socks! Gotta fill in the gaps in my sock rainbow. 🌈 🧶

Sensory overwhelm travel tip: use the shirts you’ve already worn as pillowcases to reduce the impact of scented laundry detergent. Bonus if your shirts are made of really nice cotton.

Grateful for windows that open and a chorus of spring peepers.

Casting on for Filigree, the first pattern in Helen Stewart’s Light Academia themed Handmade Sock Society. Thoughts on dark academia and light academia and my actual job in a library, which is grayscale….

Maybe: rainbow academia? Light and dark and queerness? Chose bright orange!

Election day in Canada! Today my #ShowMeYourKnits post features Canadian wool from my LYS, @gobsmackedyarn.bsky.social in Sackville, New Brunswick.

This yarn was spun at Custom Woolen Mills in AB from fleeces from Linc Farms (now in NS). 🧶

Today, I over-dyed them in Marit’s studio while we unpacked from her latest show. They are green again! Very green. It will be Spring.
The same socks are now green - the pair in front are the colour of cooked spinach in saag paneer and the other pair are bright yellow-green with emerald speckles.

Some of my socks were very faded after a few years of heavy wear. One of these pairs started out a fresh minty green. Things fade, it happens sometimes. But my sock drawer was no longer sufficiently green.

In March, I knit rainbows for my feet. I’m really happy with the pools of colour arching across the front of these Lake Ontario Socks by @knitsiphappy.bsky.social. The yarn was dyed by @thirdvaultyarns.com on their Exmoor Sock base. 🧶
Socks with pools of rainbows or northern lights against a dark blue/purple. The pattern includes lace and decreases as well as a contrast heel and toe.

I’ve got some dark moody stripes for #ShowMeYourKnits - Radialactive by Kim McBrien Evans @indigodragonfly.bsky.social - a very engaging short row stripe pattern in two weights of yarn. I used Old Maiden Aunt MCN 4 ply and Shetland 2 ply. This shawl makes me feel like a bat in the best way. 🧶
