It's easy to see that this rally is losing momentum. You don't need any studies to see it. It's what happens in late-stage rallies. My position makes money slowly grinding higher or lower, and even more while going sideways. It only loses on sustained ⬆️ or ⬇️. Rolling options then may be required.

The market is squeezing the last cent out of the last buyer. Not shorting it, but almost. I've been selling ES puts a week out with ~30% more Delta than the value of the MES short. Betting on a slow grind higher or sideways action while reducing downside exposure. It's an excellent late rally trade.

Nearly perfect inverse H&S on today 5-minute chart. Shorts are trapped. Pattern projection ~6355ish. Bulls are tired. I'm leaning more downside before new highs.

I shorted the 5990 0DTE. It expires at the close today. The plan is for it to be a day trade that expires worthless. That would net $3k on the trade. If it closes in the money, I'll build a position around the new long ES position. We'll see how it goes. I often enter a trade via a short option.

Update: 29 days later, the trade expires before the open. This was a one-decision trade that worked out very well. The ES side of the trade was +$193k, while the short call was—$40k, for a net profit of +$153k or $7,650 per contract. Not bad. One needs to be creative during #TACO times like today.

Update: Two weeks and one day later. While the timing of the trade was bad. Time was on my side. The ES side of the trade has netted roughly $125k in profit or 1.4%. If the ES is above 5875 on 6/20 the trade will bank another $25k. That is the power of premium decay. It's a dividend on the S&P500.

I'm selling ATM covered calls a month out. I put it on yesterday in anticipation of a choppy month ahead. And then I wake up to this. We'll see how it works out. It's exhausting for sure.
